This is a beautiful yet sad story. I wish you'd publish it somewhere where more people could read it.

I would if I knew how. Technically anyone can read it hear, but my reach is limited. If you have suggestions for how to get it published elsewhere, I'm very open to receiving the knowledge. :) I know how to submit to SF/F venues, but no clue how one goes about submitting to lit or nonfic places, or wherever you were thinking of.

That's difficult. It's literary nonfiction. I would subscribe to the kind of magazine that would publish it, if it existed.

If you write scripts, I think it would make a great TV episode, but I don't know for what show. I think it would make a great Black Mirror episode, to be the one episode where you're expecting something horrible to happen (as always on Black Mirror), and then it turns out it's all just for fun. But the people who produce Black Mirror probably make nothing but dystopias because they hate modernity and "late capitalism" (aaand googling Black Mirror marxism says that they do), and so wouldn't do that. They don't want people to be happy. Happy people don't revolt.
