I keep this blog to unburden myself of my screaming desire to say the things I think as loudly as I can (without being intrusive). I get a lot of value out of just putting my ideas out there where someone else can see them. Every additional read of any individual post is a reward in its own right. That is why just about every post here is free. I viscerally dislike the thought of hiding any of these thoughts from anyone.
Also I don’t have a lot of income. I’m not destitute or anything, I get by just fine. I know what I’m doing and I’m happy with my choices. When I use an afternoon typing out a post rather than working on something else, it’s because that’s what I value most. But I definitely have budgetary constraints I’m always aware of.
So when people sign up for paid subscriptions it really means a lot to me. Not just because it helps my life, even though it really does! It’s more that they don’t have to. You all already get basically everything I have to say for free. The idea that some of you are willing to pay a little extra just because you find it valuable enough that you want to gift me something… I don’t know what to even say. It feels so much more meaningful because you don’t have to. Thank you so much.
I want to occasionally post stories I’ve written in the past that aren’t otherwise available online as some display of gratitude. It’s not much. These stories will eventually become purchasable as part of a collection (or may already be, depending on when you’re reading this). But you get to see them early, and read them here, and I hope that’s something. :)
The story I’m posting now is “Through The Never”. This was originally only available in the “Humans Wanted” anthology. “Humans Wanted” was a #1 Amazon best seller in its category when it was published, but it went out of print at the end of 2023, so this story is no longer available anywhere. Except here. Thanks, again.
