Government Negligence Endangers 80,000
This was the line to exit Burning Man this year. This happens every year. This year, ~80,000 people attempted to cram onto the single-lane highway that services the area after the final Temple burn. They spent 11-13 hours in line in 110 degree heat. I cannot guess how many gallons of gas were used to run car ACs and inch along.
This is not an accident. This is a policy decision.

The Feds and NV aren’t ignorant. They know this happens every year. The event takes place on federal land, in Nevada. They have been watching attendance grow steadily for decades. They approve how many tickets can be sold each year. They knew 80,000 people were expected this year.
They aren’t lacking in money. Nevada collected $6.8M just from the Live Entertainment Tax alone this year. Factor in the incidental sales taxes, as well as federal fees that the Borg pays. Multiply this by 20+ years.
COVID cancelled Burning Man in 2020 and 2021. The government had TWO FULL YEARS with no Burning Man to expand the one-lane highway that services it. They did *nothing*. It's unconscionable. It’s intentional. It’s insane.
And they wonder why no one trusts them to do anything right.
